Increasing global market reach vital part of trade policy, says Razak Dawood

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood on Wednesday urged exporters to increase market reach across the globe and said that increasing geographical diversification is an important part of Pakistan’s strategic trade policy.

“Once market reach extends, then market share will increase. Increasing geographical diversification is an important part of our strategic trade policy,” the adviser said in a tweet.

The adviser congratulated DG Khan Cement for acquiring orders for the export of cement to the Philippines which he said was the result of the company’s success in China. 

He urged other exporters to follow DG Khan Cements example and work on extending their market reach across the world. 

In another tweet, the adviser praised the 21 per cent growth in export remittances from Information Technology (IT) and IT enabled Services (ITeS) sectors and informed that the sector had fetched over a billion dollars in foreign exchange, in 11 months of FY20. 

He further said that the growth in IT export remittances has registered to a large extent due to the support provided by the Ministry of IT.

He further said that the IT and ITeS sector is one of the top priorities of the government, adding that the government encourages local and foreign investors in the sector.

The adviser maintained that the Ministry of Commerce has also introduced the first e-commerce policy, which will further boost the IT industry.

Earlier on Tuesday, Abdul Razak Dawood had announced that Germany’s luxury fashion brand Hugo Boss had placed its first order of sportswear to a Pakistani company.
