‘Provinces willing to provide Rs37bn subsidy on fertilisers from Rabi season’

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Tuesday that Rs50 billion have been allocated to provide subsidy to farmers on different agriculture-related inputs.

Responding to a Calling Attention Notice in the House, National Food Security Parliamentary Secretary Muhammad Ameer Sultan said the federal and provincial governments are holding consultations to formulate a uniformed policy to grant a subsidy of Rs37 billion to farmers on the prices of fertilisers, especially DAP.

He said the provinces are willing to provide subsidies to farmers on fertilisers from the Rabi season, adding that the development of the agriculture sector is the priority of the incumbent government.
