Decisions on Roosevelt Hotel to be taken in-line with national interests, says Hafeez Shaikh

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Thursday said that all decisions related to the Roosevelt Hotel would be taken in a transparent manner while keeping Pakistan’s national interests in mind.

The adviser said this while chairing a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) during which the committee was given an update on issues pertaining to the Roosevelt Hotel.

Hafeez Shaikh said that all stakeholders including the aviation secretary should be included in the discussions and negotiations on issues related to the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) owned hotel in the United States (US).

He further said that all transactions pertaining to the Roosevelt Hotel should be resolved in a manner that is in favour of the country.

The ECC also approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs252.382 million for the discharge of liabilities related to the Karkey arbitration.

The committee also allowed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to procure 83 X Micron sprayers for the anti-locust operation and granted special exemption on taxes and duties to the authority.
