LAHORE: The Firdous Market Underpass Project (FMUP), named Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Underpass, is all set to be completed during the current week after a long wait of six months, APP reported on Wednesday.
The 540-meter long two-lane dual carriageway underpass would facilitate traffic from the adjoining areas, with special arrangements for water disposal. The project, for which around seven kanals was acquired, would benefit more than 91,000 vehicles daily and save fuel worth millions of rupees annually.
It may be mentioned that the completion of construction work, carried out by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), was delayed by three months as the project was supposed to be completed in August within 90 days after its start on May 19.
The project was earlier estimated to be completed in four months, however, the LDA had been directed by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar to complete its construction within 90 days.
Later, on a visit to the project site, the Punjab CM had removed the project chief engineer and also issued show cause notices to the LDA director general (DG) and additional DG over the slow pace of work.
The project was estimated to cost Rs1.76 billion, including land acquisition and construction. However, the Punjab government awarded the construction contract for Rs960 million, saving Rs130 million of the nation’s money.

2) The residents of the vicinity had to suffer in form of tremendous dust, noise and their is no gas, no water even
3) The gates and walls that were pushed back was made by Lda is of very poor quality and work has been left incomplete.
4) their is no one to listen or understand the grievances of the residents who are in trouble for last seven months.

The side service lane is incomplete and left behind for dangerous accidents because the contractor has run away so the work on the service lane is incomplete. The residents cannot take their vehicles inside their residence. When will this be completed along with the left over walls / gates etc????? In 20xxx
I really miss the administration of Shahbaz sharif. In his administration the huge projects like Kalma undrepass etc completed within 100 days. PTI must learn from the N if they want to be alive in Lahore’s mind.

Actually, there are certain lotaas who think it’s their duty to create hurdles and chaos in every public welfare project ….so don’t mind such and keep appreciating every facilitating work undertaken by any govt …..

I would further request the authorities to restore gas and water atleast and complete the service road for some relieve to the residents. Why are the vicinity residents being given trouble?? and our health and children’s hv suffered due to dust, noise and no water no gas. Pls visit few residents and ask

Please some authorties also visit the entrance point of lahore like saghian road and nanasukh Shadra Lhr and see the new Pakistan and miserable condition of roads and civic system
We really miss Mr shahbaz sharif govt he is very perfect man and managed the projects
True. We can never forget the Mr. Shahbaz govt as well. They way his administration destroyed the trrafic flow of ferozpur road after spending billions, no one can do that. you are more then welcome to witness that in peak hours. His stupid administrator made the signal less corridor on whole patch of 15 km and leave a 1 signal in between + a 2 lane Bridge where trrafic from 6 lane got merged. You can’t imagine what the mess it create. No only that his amazing administration remove the roundabout and made the u turns in name of signal less corridor on gulberg main bulevard and just go and see what the mess it became special on liberty u turn and the one near hafeez center.
People naming Shahbaz theif never gone through how much his work over burden the projects he completed projects in double costs to avoid audits he completed them earlier then normal time so they can’t be audited and no hospital and University made by them projects like metro and orange train not only made on huge loan installments of these projects will be paid by us for years same like we r paying ring road and motorway taxes despite of paying tax
