2021 will be game changer for ‘Made in Pakistan’ devices: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Thursday said this year will be a game changer for ‘Made in Pakistan’ devices and machines in the health sector.

In a tweet, Chaudhry Fawad said that the country, which has so far not even produced its own syringes, will be included in the list of those countries that make the most advance machinery after this year.

The federal minister said that at least two big brands of the world were ready to set up their factories in Pakistan.

Earlier, the federal minister had also stated during an event that Pakistan will be able to manufacture its own X-ray and dialysis machines within the next four to six months.

In his tweets, Fawad termed attaining self-sufficiency in Covid-19 related material by Pakistan through its scientists, engineers and technicians “a big success”.

When the first phase of Covid-19 emerged in the month of February, the country lacked the medical equipment including masks, goggles, protective gears, or ventilators to fight the pandemic, he said, but now the situation is entirely different.

By setting up new industries for medical instruments, Pakistan is saving $4 billion in the foreign exchange. The country was also manufacturing cardiac stents and would be making pacemaker of heart within a year, he informed.

A day earlier, Fawad had announced that the Pakistan Sports Board and Pakistan Science Foundation have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to accord a formal eSports status.

The minister, in a Twitter post, also told video game lovers to get ready for new and exciting opportunities that await them.
