The Punjab government inaugurated multiple agriculture projects under the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI), including the Green Agri Mall & Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, and Agri Research and Facilitation Centre in Cholistan’s Kandai and Chapu.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir attended the ceremonies alongside federal and provincial ministers.
The Green Agri Mall & Service Company aims to provide farmers with high-quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and fuel at controlled rates while offering rental farming machinery, including drones, at affordable costs. The Smart Agri Farm, spread over 5,000 acres, will serve as a model for modern farming techniques, integrating high-efficiency irrigation systems to maximize crop yields.
The Agri Research and Facilitation Centre will offer laboratory services and technical support, with connectivity to research institutions and academic partners nationwide. Addressing the gathering, Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted agriculture as Pakistan’s economic backbone and praised the initiative’s role in advancing best practices in the sector.
General Asim Munir acknowledged Punjab’s role as a powerhouse in agriculture and commended the rapid progress of the Green Corporate Initiative. He reaffirmed the army’s commitment to supporting economic development, emphasizing the importance of agricultural innovation.
