Soneri Bank reports steady nine-month profit of PKR 9.6 billion

Quarterly profit drops 48% due to drop in interest income and increase in operating expenses

Karachi– Soneri Bank Limited has announced its financial results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2025, reporting a pre-tax profit of PKR 9.60 billion for the nine-month period, largely in line with the PKR 9.73 billion reported in the same period last year.

The bank’s Board of Directors, in its 212th meeting held on Wednesday, approved the financial statements. The board did not recommend any cash dividend, bonus shares, right shares, or other corporate actions for this period.

For the quarter ended September 30, 2025, the bank posted a profit after taxation of PKR 806.91 million, compared to PKR 1.55 billion in the corresponding quarter of 2024, marking a 47.94% decrease. The earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter stood at PKR 0.73, down from PKR 1.41 last year.

For the cumulative nine-month period, the profit after taxation was PKR 3.30 billion (EPS: PKR 3.00), compared to a restated profit of PKR 4.77 billion (EPS: PKR 4.32) for the same period in 2024.

The bank’s net mark-up/interest income for the nine months showed improvement, rising to PKR 20.99 billion from PKR 18.84 billion last year, indicating better core banking performance. While the same for the quarter fell to Rs 6.74 billion from Rs 6.9 billion recorded previously.

Total non mark-up/interest income also saw a healthy increase to PKR 27.52 billion from PKR 24.06 billion, driven by gains on securities and foreign exchange income.

However, non mark-up/interest expenses grew to PKR 17.83 billion from PKR 14.52 billion, primarily due to an increase in operating expenses.

The bank’s statement of financial position as of September 30, 2025, shows total assets of PKR 820.44 billion, up from PKR 739.50 billion at the end of 2024.

Key growth was seen in investments, which increased to PKR 499.94 billion from PKR 384.31 billion. Deposits also saw significant growth, rising to PKR 629.13 billion from PKR 543.15 billion.

The net assets of the bank increased to PKR 33.24 billion from PKR 30.81 billion at the end of the previous year.
