Punjab government set to unveil budget for FY 2017-18 today

The Punjab government will unveil the annual budget for Financial year 2017-18 at the Punjab Assembly today. The Finance Minister Dr Aisha Ghaus Pasha will presenting the budget in front of the assembly.

It has come to knowledge that the Punjab Saaf Pani clean drinking water projects have been assigned Rs30b, Rs 18b for the Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme (KPRRP). Under development budget head, Rs 93b have been assigned for Lahore Orange Metro Train, Rs90b for other development schemes, Rs452b for Annual Development Programme (ADP).

Rs4.5b have been assigned for Chief Ministers Laptop Scheme, Rs 17b for constructing more classrooms in schools, Rs4b for reconstructing and repairing school buildings in decrepit condition, Rs4b for the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF), Rs5b for Viability Gap Funding and Rs1b for Lahore Knowledge Park (LKP).

Punjab government has set aside Rs11b for Punjab Safe Cities Projects, Rs9b for skills development, Rs10b for Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute, Rs2.5b for Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital, Rs1.5b for health insurance program, Rs16b for Punjab Education Foundation, Rs 15b for Lodhran-Khanewal Highway and Rs10b for Multan road bypass and Gulshan-e-Iqbal park.

Also Rs10b have been assigned for special development packages, Rs15b for Prime Minister’s Sustainable Development Goals programmes, Rs15b for special development schemes and Rs14b for the balance payment for completion of CMD scheme.
