Who earns more? Fresh BBA graduates or drivers on Yango?

In today’s economy, when everything is so uncertain, having a formal university degree is no longer the primary requirement that can give you financial freedom. Highly qualified individuals with degrees from prestigious universities are sitting in their homes today, waiting for the phone to ring.

Even when that phone call comes, after rounds of interviews, the average starting monthly salary for a fresh BBA graduate, based on a website by one of the country’s leading business institutes IBA, is PKR 67,000.

However, in today’s world, it takes more than being just booksmart. You need to be determined and use smart opportunities that can be financially rewarding. That stands particularly true for people who have been utilising their time by providing services on ride-hailing platforms like Yango.

While the average starting salary for a fresh BBA graduate in the market currently ranges between PKR 45,000 – 60,000, the team at Pakistan Today calculated that by providing full time services at Yango, one can make up to PKR 250,000 – 290,000 per month, if they have their own car.

diSimilarly, if a BIKE driver were to drive with the same fulltime course, and was smart about all the bonuses and guarantees one can get, they can earn up to PKR 150,000 – 190,000. Rickshaw you ask? PKR 110,000 – 130,000. Of course, time spent on the road, city demand, and customer ratings are major contributors to that number. However, what is common is that its a model that rewards effort, not titles.

Unlike a fixed monthly salary, Yango’s flexible system allows drivers to work independently and still build a consistent income. There are those who use the platform as a full-time opportunity, while others drive part-time after regular jobs or studies to supplement household earnings and to make ends meet.

The company also recently introduced a new feature called Flex Mode, allowing drivers to work on a part-time basis with greater discretion over which trips they accept. The feature has been launched in Karachi, with rollout to other cities expected in the coming months. Flex mode basically gives drivers more control over their day and the freedom to accept only the rides they want, making it perfect for part-timers looking to work on their own terms, with great incentives made specifically for 4 rides a day.

Now of course, the earnings will not be as great as the fulltime ‘MAX mode’, that is designed to maximise your earnings by working on the platform full time. But the Flex mode is certainly a great side-hustle for retired folks, students, and people simply ‘taking a break’ in their career. But this can also be particularly good for the daily office goers, who might want to cover their petrol cost to and from work.

Apart from the high income, Yango offers many more exciting incentives to its partner’s drivers in the form of insurance coverage, bonuses, safety training, and other programs that help partner’s drivers grow sustainably. For those without a formal degree, the platform really is a godsend because it has become an entry point into digital entrepreneurship and building financial independence through everyday mobility. Oftentimes, individuals without degrees remain discouraged and hopeless, but opportunities such as these really encourage them to keep striving and moving in the direction of their dreams.

As one driver working via Yango put it, “I may not have a degree, but every trip I complete takes me one step closer to my goals.” That’s the power of Yango because it gives people a chance to create success stories on their terms. So even if they have not had access to opportunities as others, they can still build amazing lives for themselves and their loved ones.

Now, you decide! Are you going to be chasing fancy titles? Or would you rather sign up on Yango 😉
