KPOGCL CFO takes back allegations and leaves job

PESHAWAR: In a bizarre twist, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Oil and Gas Company Limited (KPOGCL) Chief Financial Officer left his job and the city last week.

CFO Javed Ghafoor is said to have resigned from his post on November 1st after having been at loggerheads with CEO Mohammad Raziuddun, said sources according to Express Tribune.

Ghafoor had alleged Raziuddun of being involved in technical/administrative irregularities and wrongdoings, funds theft, misuse of power and fooling the KP government. He had come forward with these accusations in a Board of Directors meeting in August, after which they had setup a committee to investigate these allegations.

Senator from PTI Noman Wazir was recommended to head the committee which also included KP Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) Provincial Chief Javed Khattak and also ex-additional secretary at petroleum and energy ministry, Naeem Malik.

The committee hasn’t submitted a report yet, but Ghafoor is said to have reached out to the committee and the BOD to take back his allegations, said reliable sources.

CFO Ghafoor is said to have written that he had missed out on particular documents, which resolved the discrepancy originally reported back in August. He added those documents cleared the issues at hand and were in conformity with company norms, said an official who had seen it.

Ghafoor earlier had accused Raziuddun of giving fake presentations, taking credit for oil and gas production of other companies since KPOGCL hadn’t produced a single barrel so far. He also said KPOGCL didn’t possess any license for the seven blocks it claims ownership about.

Furthermore, he alleged that Raziuddun was involved of nepotistic human resource practices alongside employing daily wagers and getting cash instead of following laid down procedures of KP Public Procurement Authority (KPPRA).

And he accused CEO Raziuddun of having opted for increasing KP govt’s share in Baratei block (Kohat) from 2.5pc to 15pc, which made the provincial authorities pay Rs350-400m immediately to the entity exploring the block. Ghafoor had said chances of success were low due to the company possessing no oil in their wells.
