KP assigns 19 departments to collect Rs49.2bn revenue for FY21

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has assigned responsibility to 19 departments to collect revenue estimated at Rs49.2 billion for FY21.

The provincial government has set a target of collecting Rs28.73 billion in tax from six departments, while Rs21.2 billion would be collected by 13 departments from tax free sources in FY21.

The provincial government will collect taxes via the excise and taxation department from citizens through taxes on immovable property, motor vehicles, infrastructure development cess and tobacco development cess and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority sales tax.

The Department of Revenue and State has been given the responsibility of collecting taxes including agricultural income tax, stamp duty, registration fee, land revenue and urban capital value tax.

The Department of Energy and Power has been assigned the responsibility of collecting hydel power tariff and electricity duty.

Similarly, the Transport and Mass Transit Department has been given the responsibility of collecting license fees for transport, transport fares and freight forwarding agencies and route permit fees.

The information and public relations department has been assigned the duty of collecting taxes on printing press, advertisements on Radio Pakhtunkhwa, newspapers and public relations agencies.

Similarly, 16 other departments including the Service Tribunal, Public Service Commission, Anti-Corruption, Transport Auction and State Office and the Home Department will collect tax-free revenue.

The KP Finance Department will be collecting revenue pertaining to local fund audit, industry and technical education, communication and works municipalities, forestry, environment and wildlife, minerals, sports, tourism, culture, archeology, youth affairs and primary, secondary and higher education.
