Six working groups to be formed on CPEC

The Punjab government is going to establish six separate working groups in order to analyse and benefit from maximum opportunities arising from the 285km western route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The route includes districts of Attock, Chakwal and Mianwali, and will provide with opportunities for development in the region.

The six groups would comprise of experts, secretaries and consultants, who would analyse how to ensure connectivity between the three districts and rest of the country, with particular emphasis laid on curbing population migration to urban centres of Punjab.

According to media reports, the Punjab Planning & Development (P&D) department will issue a formal notification in a few days and will prepare a final draft by April 20.

The six groups consist of Infrastructure and Development, Social, Agriculture and Livestock, Minerals and Mines, Energy, and Special, with the last one catering to tourism and sports in the region.
